Feature
Send generated fashion photos to Shopify's Files library without downloading and re-uploading
Shopify export pushes generated on-model photos into the Files library of your connected Shopify store, one image, a whole campaign, or a finished layout at a time. It does not touch product listings — only the Files library. Alovia can also pull an existing product photo from Shopify to use as your starting flat lay.

What can Shopify Export do?
Three places to export from
Export a single generated image with one button on that image, every successfully generated image in a campaign at once, or every image placed in your finished layout from the export step — see the Catalog Generator (/products/catalog-generator) for how the campaign that feeds these exports gets built.
A custom app you create yourself
There is no one-click Shopify App Store install. You create a custom app in your own Shopify admin and Dev Dashboard, following a 16-step guide, grant it read_products, write_products, read_files, and write_files access, then paste your Shop Domain, Client ID, and Client Secret into Alovia.
Encrypted credentials, auto-refreshed access
Your Client Secret is encrypted at rest, and the access token used for every export is refreshed automatically and cached with its own expiry. A "Test Connection" check verifies the store and reads back a few of your products before you export anything.
Pull product photos back into Alovia
Browse the products already in your connected store and pull an existing photo in as your starting flat lay instead of uploading a new file — capped at 10MB, and limited to JPG, PNG, WEBP, and GIF.
How does Shopify Export work?
1. Connect your store
Create a custom app in your Shopify admin and Dev Dashboard, grant read_products, write_products, read_files, and write_files access, then paste your Shop Domain, Client ID, and Client Secret into Alovia.
2. Generate or import
Generate on-model photos, or pull an existing product photo from your connected Shopify store to use as the starting flat lay.
3. Export to Shopify
Send a single image, a full campaign, or a finished layout to your store's Files library with one click — each image gets an auto-generated alt text.

How do brands rate Shopify Export?
“Shooting hundreds of items on models was financially impossible for us. With Alovia, we automated the whole process using our basic product shots. Our entire 500-SKU catalog now has consistent, professional model photography. Conversion rates jumped 42% in the first month alone. It's a very practical tool that directly impacts the bottom line.”

Jake Peterson
E-commerce Store Owner, STYLE DIRECT
“When you manage digital retail operations at scale, overhauling your entire visual production pipeline overnight is a massive risk. To test this kind of digital transformation, we decided to pilot Alovia on two of our fast-moving sub-brands first. Traditional photography was already creating bottlenecks for their frequent product drops. By automating the visual asset generation for those specific labels, we instantly cleared the backlog and drastically improved their time-to-market. It gave us a measurable, low-risk environment to prove the technology actually works before planning a rollout for our flagship brand.”

Frequently asked questions about Shopify Export
Does Shopify export create or update product listings?
No. Shopify export only sends images into your store's Files library through Shopify's fileCreate API — it does not create, update, or attach images to a product listing, and there is no automatic product sync.
Do I install this from the Shopify App Store?
No. There is no App Store listing. You create a custom app yourself inside your own Shopify admin and Dev Dashboard, following a step-by-step guide, then connect it to Alovia with a Shop Domain, Client ID, and Client Secret.
What happens if part of a bulk export fails?
Bulk export sends images to Shopify one at a time, not all at once, and reports back how many of the total succeeded along with a count of any that failed — so one failed image does not block the rest of the export.
How is my Shopify Client Secret kept secure?
It's encrypted before being stored, and decrypted only when Alovia needs to request an access token on your behalf — it is never stored or displayed in plain text.
Do I have to reconnect my Shopify store manually from time to time?
No — the access token refreshes itself automatically, checked against a 5-minute buffer before its expiry, so a normal export never prompts you to reconnect.
What exact permissions does the custom Shopify app need?
Four scopes: read_products, write_products, read_files, and write_files — enough to browse your products and write generated images into your Files library, and nothing broader.
What format and size limits apply when pulling an existing product photo in from Shopify?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, or GIF, capped at 10MB. This applies specifically to pulling a photo already listed on Shopify in as your starting flat lay.
If Shopify is temporarily unreachable, does an export retry automatically?
No — a failed request to Shopify's fileCreate API returns an error immediately rather than retrying on a delay; try the export again once the connection issue clears.
Ready to try Shopify Export?
Connect your Shopify store once, then push any generated photo straight into it — no downloading and re-uploading.
